Children's Styles

Our children have ways of expressing themselves in many different aspects. One of the most popular ways is by appearance. Appearance is very important to children of all ages and they love to have their own style. Hair, clothing, and accessories all play a major part in this regardless of their age. My daughter is getting older and I am starting to notice that at the age of four years old she wants to make her own style decisions such as clothing, rooms decor and hair.
I believe that the ideas come from our children being around a variety of different peers or it could possibly be a magazine, book, or television show. In today's society kids are sometimes exposed to a lot, so they are learning faster than normal.
Often times I just allow my daughter to be creative with her styles, but with my help though of course, just her ideas. My daughter attends a private daycare were they wear uniforms and have a strict dress code policy, so guess what our only way to spice it up during the week is with her hair, hair accessories, big bows, ribbons, head bands, etc.
The uniforms is also one of the reasons why I let her have her way on the weekends with her fashion. As parents we have to keep in mind that their are always new styles and trends that they want to try. They see their friends trying something new, maybe it was something they saw in a store, magazine, or television show.
We should allow our kids to express themselves through style, because it can have great benefits, such as building their self esteem, creativity, trail and error...certain styles don't work, and simple rules for fashion.
